About Team Builders Plus

Team Builders Plus was founded in 1993 by Merrick Rosenberg and Jeff Backal. As one of the first team building companies in the United States, Team Builders Plus paved the way for the team building industry that followed.

In 1994, after watching team members wanting to get to know each other better and seeing personality conflicts in action, Team Builders Plus added DISC styles training to its offerings. Over the years, Team Builders Plus continued to create innovative team building programs and in 2007, Team Builders Plus acquired Teambuilding, Inc. to become the largest team building company in the country. Team Builders Plus led the way in evolving team building from basic “low ropes” outdoor exercises to a wide range of exercises including building bikes for at-risk children, leading technology-driven treasure hunts, creating and facilitating web-based team surveys and delivering team development sessions designed specifically for senior teams. Team building programs range from fun team retreats to intensive executive team interventions and everything in between.

Team Builders Plus has worked with hundreds of small and medium-sized companies, numerous government agencies, and over two-thirds of the current Fortune 100 list. Our founders, Merrick Rosenberg and Jeff Backal, cofounder of Team Builders Plus, were selected as the Alumni Entrepreneurs of the Year from Drexel University, where they incubated the idea for the company. Team Builders Plus is proud to have repeatedly been recognized as one of the Fastest Growing Companies & Best Places to Work (by the Philadelphia Business Journal), one of the Fastest Growing Privately Held Companies in the U.S. (by Inc. magazine) and as the New Jersey Business of the Year (by NJ Biz magazine).

In 2012, Merrick Rosenberg wrote Taking Flight! to bring the DISC styles to life by connecting them to Eagles, Parrots, Doves and Owls. The birds literally took off, and Take Flight Learning was born. While sustaining the team building world through Team Builders Plus, Take Flight Learning now offers seven style-based certifications and training programs.
